Our Family Story

 

I’m Sheila Forsey author who has written four books (and working on a fifth!). I also run classes / workshops in The Writing Room at the Cracked Hen! My husband worked for 30 years working in IT and has taken a step back to embrace a quieter pace of life. I was born and raised right here in Kilmuckridge, and after meeting and settling down together, we’ve been proud to call this village home for over 20 years.

 

Our children are all in college now and were raised here. We feel incredibly fortunate to have given them a childhood rooted in the natural beauty and the strong community of Kilmuckridge.​​

 

Our Home and Its Charm

 

The Cracked Hen is more than just a place to stay — it’s an extension of our family and our way of life. We’re situated just outside Kilmuckridge, surrounded by peaceful countryside and the soothing sounds of nature. Our property is home to a lively crew of animals, including our three affectionate cats, and a growing flock of 30 chickens and four ducks. If you enjoy fresh eggs for breakfast, you’ll have the hens to thank!

Kilmuckridge is at the heart of who we are. Our deep connection to the village goes back to Sheila's childhood, and Shane has come to know and love the area since moving here from Waterford City over 20 years ago. We’ve raised our family here, built lifelong friendships, and embraced the rhythm of village life.
